A collection of officers from Las Vegas, Henderson and Boulder City are set to spend Friday night detecting impaired driving.
A sobriety checkpoint was scheduled from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. in Las Vegas Metro police’s South Central Area Command. Metro said it is setting up the checkpoint at a place shown to have a high number of accidents and impaired drivers.
According to police, officers will focus on both drug and impaired driving in the hopes of reducing accidents.
The traffic safety event comes in the midst of the Independence Day weekend.
An exact location for the checkpoint was not disclosed.
