With spring break approaching, law enforcement officers are hoping to put a stop to drunk driving involving licensed motorists of any age.
Las Vegas Metro police scheduled a sobriety checkpoint for Friday, March 22 from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. Police said the checkpoint will be located on Tropicana Avenue and Wilbur Street near the University of Nevada, Las Vegas campus.
Police said the goal of the enforcement period is to reduce the impact of drug and alcohol impaired drivers during the college and school district spring breaks.
Metro also noted the location was chosen due to high traffic volume and accidents in the area.
The checkpoint was sponsored by the “Enforcing Under Age Drinking Laws Grant” and the “Joining Forces Grant” from the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety.
