Las Vegas Metro police officers stationed around an east side intersection as part of a crackdown on drivers running red lights.
The Sunrise Hospital Trauma Center hosted Wednesday an event to raise awareness of red-light-running dangers.
Beginning at 6 a.m., volunteers manned the sidewalk corners of Flamingo Road and Maryland Parkway and raised signs to tell drivers to stop on red lights as well as yellow caution lights.
One of the signs also reminded drivers making right turns at the intersection to stop on a red before proceeding.
Organizers of the event said Metro officers were expected to stop motorists and hand out citations to drivers who do not obey traffic laws.
Representatives from Sunrise Hospital also told media members on hand the main reason for the event is to prevent crashes that could lead to death or life-changing injuries to pedestrians and other motorists.
